Manufactured Home Skirting Kits, Follow These Dos and Don’ts When Purchasing!
If you own a manufactured home, you’re likely required by local law to put skirting on it. However, before you simply reach for the first mobile home skirting kits you can find, take advantage of these dos and don’ts. They’ll help you make a good choice and give you more bang for your buck!
— DO purchase direct from DURASKIRT™ – Not Home Depot or Lowes
We have always sold our skirting and underpinning kits directly to the public. So when searching for DURASKIRT Lowes call us 360-333-5498!
— DO pay close attention to how it’s made
All mobile home skirting kits are not created equal. Some are made with vinyl, while others are made with aluminum or concrete. There are brands that have special vents to even out airflow. While others have a finish that’s designed to look like stacked stones. Still, more boast of being the best cold weather skirting product.
Bottom line — there’s a variety of options out there, so do some homework! For example, learn about the durability of different materials (concrete skirting, vinyl, and aluminum) and additional expenses may come up over time if the skirting material doesn’t hold up (rodent infestations, etc.) We think you’ll find concrete skirting is more effective and durable than vinyl or aluminum, and will save you money in the end. Also, understand how air circulates inside your crawl space, and thus, why a special vent would be important. The more informed you are, the better-finished product you can purchase!
— DO buy your mobile home skirting kits from a company that’s happy to help!
Some mobile home skirting kit manufacturers only care about making money. Once they’ve sold you a kit, they couldn’t care less if you struggle to install it. Others intentionally make the instructions difficult to comprehend so you give up and hire them (or their buddies) to install everything for you.
You can do better than that!
A good manufacturer will be happy to help with your skirting even after your purchase has gone through. Specifically, they’ll have an instruction manual that’s written in plain English, and they’ll post videos and other tips right on their website. Sure, they’ll offer their own installation services, but they’ll also make it relatively easy for you to do the installation work yourself, instead of trying to get you to spend more money!
— DON’T take winter for granted
If you live in a place that gets a lot of snow and ice, you’re going to need skirting for sheds that can keep up with weather changes, extreme temperatures, and moisture. Because of the way it’s constructed, it isn’t good to let a bunch of snow and ice pile up against ANY type of skirting, but some kits are better prepared to deal with nature’s wrath than others.
Before you buy anything, talk to the manufacturer about how their skirting is going to withstand winter. If you don’t like the answer, look for another kit!
— DON’T forget about your other structures
Yes, it’s called “mobile home skirting,” but these kits can also be used to enhance the look and function of your deck, above-ground pool, or hot tub. Skirting for sheds is the perfect way to enclose the bottom of your shed or backyard storage building, giving it a clean, finished appearance while adding protection from pests and the elements. So, before you put away the calculator, measure the space these structures occupy—chances are, some mobile home skirting will make them look and perform better!
What Is The Best Way To Prepare A Site for DURASKIRT™?
The reason for choosing a product such as DURASKIRT™ is that you want your manufactured home pit set. Thus, we’re frequently we’re asked by contractors what is the best way to prepare a site for DURASKIRT™ mobile home skirting. Ideally, for mobile home skirting installation, the home should be set up level on a gravel pad that extends outside the home’s perimeter by a couple of inches.
Gravel Pad & Access
The home pad should be excavated, allowing 18” to 24” around the perimeter to allow for workers. One more thing to consider is accessibility. Since the panels weigh approximately 68 lbs., it makes it easier to have clean, level access from the crates to the home.
Excavating for Blocking Height
Soils preparation.
There are a few key steps to consider when preparing a gravel pad for DURASKIRT™ mobile home skirting. First, assess the soil’s ability to support the home; it’s essential to dig down to native, supportive soil free of vegetation to create a stable foundation. Next, once the site is excavated, measure the manufactured home’s waste lines to ensure there is sufficient slope toward city sewers or a septic tank. This information, typically provided by the factory before shipment, includes the exact location and dimension from floor or beam height, which is crucial for planning the layout.
With the sewer height established, adjust the level by bringing in gravel, ensuring the finished height from the gravel to the bottom of the home’s joists is exactly 31”. This optimal height minimizes the need to cut DURASKIRT™ panels for a seamless fit. Additionally, when installing DURASKIRT™ on wet soil, it’s important to lay down a layer of gravel first for drainage and stabilization. Alternatively, if the soil remains wet, digging down about a foot to reach drier soil before laying the DURASKIRT™ fabric can be effective. This dry, compacted base is essential because it provides the necessary friction for the fabric to lock in place securely, preventing shifting over time. By carefully preparing the site with these steps, you’ll create a strong, durable foundation that supports both the home and the DURASKIRT™ skirting.
A Word on Factory Installed Belly Band
Factory-installed belly band that leaves a 2” distance from the bottom of the rim joist to the bottom of the belly band is optimal. Some of the brands that do this are Marlette and Fleetwood. This saves time and material when installing DURASKIRT™.
Although these are the optimal conditions for DURASKIRT™, they certainly do not stop us from being able to prepare all sites. We’ve installed DURASKIRT™ on slopes and extreme height variations where we extend the framework under the home. This style is called a stepped foundation look, and we will be covering this in another article with photos.

Before starting your DURASKIRT™ installation, please review the following helpful advice. (This does not cover the full installation procedures, which can be found in our installation manual.)
What is the estimated installation time for DURASKIRT™?
Installing DURASKIRT™ mobile home underpinning may take one person around 9 hours to three 7-hour days. With two people, it can be done in 4.5 to 10.5 hours depending on home size and conditions.
Rule of thumb for estimating installation time:
To estimate, the time of the installation of one panel and multiply by the total number of panels. For instance, if your home needs 60 panels, and it takes 5 minutes to install each, then 5 minutes x 60 panels ÷ 60 minutes/hour = 5 hours.
If your mobile home skirting installation takes longer, don’t worry. Some complete it in under three hours, which is very fast. Most homeowners take about twice as long, especially if the site isn’t well-prepared.
Remember the five P’s?
The saying “Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance” is key. If you’re unfamiliar with the five P’s, it’s important to learn and adopt them. Before preparing, understand the concept of installation times.
Install Time Regarding Existing Homes
The installation time for mobile home skirting varies depending on the home. Typically, removing existing skirting takes 3–8 hours. After removal, inspect for rot at the attachment points and replace any decayed wood. Once preparations are complete, installing DURASKIRT™ panels ranges from 3 to 7 minutes each, based on skill and site conditions. A single person could finish in one 9-hour day or spread over three 7-hour days. With two people, installation might take as little as 4 1/2 hours or up to 10 1/2 hours.
Wet Conditions
For wet soil conditions, laying gravel or reaching drier soil is necessary before setting down the DURASKIRT™ fabric.
1″ to a 1 1/2″ gap from the top of the skirting panel to give good ventilation.
Grade the site and mark a 31″ point on your shovel handle or a stick. Use the shovel as it is handy. Ensure the site is level, with a 31″ distance from the rim-joist to the ground for skirting panels. Panels should have a 1″ to 1-1/2″ clearance from the ground.
Is it necessary to insulate mobile home skirting?
In northern regions, older homes typically have minimal insulation. It is recommended to prioritize insulating the floors over the skirting. Insulation of wood or vinyl skirting can be done, provided that adequate ventilation is maintained in the area. Modern constructions are generally well-insulated.
Receiving Your DURASKIRT™ Packages / Crates Now What? Manufactured Home Skirting Kits
Transport Times
So you ordered your DURASKIRT™manufactured home skirting kits to place on your manufactured home, mobile home, tiny home, or post & pier house. Now, you can expect approximately two to five days for your skirting packages to process into shipping. Additionally, the crates look like the photo above when they’re ready to leave our factory. Once the skirting kitleaves our factory on an LTL truck, expect varying times for transportation up to seven days or in rare instances up to two weeks. In reality, we are speaking about the lower 48 United States shipping lanes.
Shipping Costs Are Flat Rate for Manufactured Home Skirting Kits
Surprisingly, most areas of the United States have very competitive shipping lanes and therefore, these results are low pallet shipping costs. We manufacture DURASKIRT™ skirting packages in a way that minimizes the freight charges. Moreover, so our customers gain affordable concrete skirting. Most recently, one of our customers met the delivery truck and received his mobile home skirting packages.
Preparation & Receiving
We ask that you be prepared for the LTL truck. Moreover, the trucks have a liftgate and use pallet jacks. For this reason, you will need a firm flat surface so they can pull the pallets off the liftgate and onto your flat, firm surface. Alternatively, you can provide plywood for the protection of driveways, recommended, or over gravel and or firm grassy areas.
Note: The crate should be set to level.
Safely Unpacking Your Crates
A level crate is vital for your safety. If, for instance, the crate must be set slightly out of level, then make sure the crate front labeled “OPEN HERE” (see photo) is facing uphill. Next, you can cut the straps with nippers or sheet metal cutters. Following this, look for the screws, TORX 20 or TORX 25, that secure the crate’s top and begin backing them out. Next, pull off the lid and place it aside.
Now, begin looking for the screws securing the front of the crate and back them out to pull the front panel marked “OPEN HERE” (see photo). Then you will see the lumber, and cross-beams, that secure the panels from movement during shipping. When you’re ready to start your installation, you can back the side screws securing the beams on each side to get to your panels. You will notice that the panels are tilted backward for your safety, using gravity to hold them from tumbling outward. This is why it was important to make sure the crates were set level or slightly backward.
Important: Use safe lifting methods and unobscure pathways to begin moving the panels around your home.
Finally!
Can you picture yourself ready for a DIY skirting celebration? Talk to your family and friends and ask them if they will participate in a day of skirting with you. I am certain they will help after you inform them it will be the last time you will need their help as far as skirting for your home.

In 2024 Arizona State Skirting Options Now Include DURASKIRT™
For many Arizonians, poor mobile home skirting product options have plagued the manufactured home industry. So, the State of Arizona relented in passing regulations on what qualifies as manufactured home skirting. These regulations are rigorous.
Although, the regulations include the use of proprietary skirting products with installation instructions, as is DURASKIRT™. We still chose to qualify our product through engineers so that the public would be more aware of how great a product they’re choosing.
Still, we know first-hand, as we just finalized a seven-month obstacle course using two engineers to help clarify that which we already knew to be true. DURASKIRT™ is the best home skirting in Arizona. The highlights of our product are numerous.
Financing Reasons
Notably, when it comes to financing DURASKIRT™ quality is unmatched. For instance, Duraskirt™, mobile home skirting, meets requirements for the MH Advantage Program if installed per our installation manual. Of course, a “Continuous Masonry Wall” can be constructed in varying ways with many choices of concrete or masonry materials. Best of all, Arizona State skirting options now include DURASKIRT™.
Moreover, the intent and purpose of MH Advantage Program is that their loans are backed up by long-lasting materials. Therefore, Duraskirt™, with Penetron™, tops the intent and purpose and outshines our competitors when it comes to long life.
Meets HUD Permanent Foundation Guide
Arizona State Engineer Report for Approving DURASKIRT™ Skirting Option:
Duraskirt ™ manufactured home perimeter skirt wall system was review for compliance with the current HUD handbook “Permanent Foundation Guild for Manufactured Housing” publication HUD[1]7584. It was found that the Duraskirt system meets all the requirements for foundation Type C.
These are systems that structurally support and anchor the home at the chassis, per section 100-2. Since perimeter walls may or not be used to structurally support or anchor the home, the Duraskirt ™ will meet HUD guidelines.
Furthermore, it is composed of rot resistant materials (concrete) and contains screened ventilation openings to meet the other requirements for Exterior perimeter foundations walls. The design and strength of the Duraskirt ™ system has generous safety factors for the applied loads of wind and seismic forces, plus the backfill loads against the skirting if installed per the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Backfilling Report 11.9 Times Stronger Than Needed
The design and strength of the Duraskirt ™ system has generous safety factors for the applied loads of wind and seismic forces, plus the backfill loads against the skirting if installed per the manufacturer’s recommendations. The 30” tall panel was tested for a full backfill height in a jig that simulated normal installation conditions.
Moreover, it was backfilled with compacted medium sand to the top of the 30” tall panel, with no significant deformation of the panel, nor any viable damage or signs of stress or an overloaded condition. The sand has measured dry weight at 110 PCF, and an internal angle of friction of 30 deg. This corresponds to an active lateral pressure coefficient of 0.33, or an equivalent fluid pressure of 36.3 PCF.
In fact, these values were used to analyze the panel for lateral moment cap city. The panels are reinforced with a 1” x 1” grid of 16 gauge, 60K psi wire, placed off-center to the panel thickness with plastic standouts when the forms are filled with 4000 PSI concrete mix. Analysis indicates this configuration has a factored moment capacity of 8857 in-lbs. The installed loading requires a maximum lateral bending moment of 744 in-lbs.
Engineers Conclusion:
Therefore, it has a calculated factor of safety of 11.9. This is about eight times the min required. These panels are very durable and should not ever become overloaded when installed and used according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.

The thickness of concrete does not matter if it is treated fully with PENETRON™.
Although, PENETRON™ was developed primarily for commercial applications, we believe it makes our products more desirable. In fact, you will agree DURASKIRT™, DURASHEDSKIRT™ and SDG™ products are greatly improved by its advantages.
Why Buy Concrete Products Like DURASKIRT™, DURASHEDSKIRT™ & SDG™?
DURASKIRT™, DURASHEDSKIRT™ & SDG™ Made With PENETRON™
Because you’re looking to prolong the service life of your building or home. DURASKIRT™, DURASHEDSKIRT™ & SDG treated with PENETRON™ ADMIX-treated concrete eliminates further maintenance and repair costs, saving you money. Moreover, it will outlive untreated concrete by 60 years or more.
So, What Are The PENETRON™ Advantages?
PENETRON™ is a crystalline technology that enhances the overall performance and lifespan of concrete. Indeed, its primary intention is to waterproof concrete. Even so, the benefits keep adding up:
Resists high hydrostatic pressure
Provides self-healing capabilities for cracks up to 0.5 mm
Enhances the compressive strength of concrete
Non-toxic and contains no VOCs (NSF 61-certified for potable water applications)
Resists chemical attacks (pH3–11)
Significantly reduces chloride penetration and carbonation
Effectively counters alkali silica reaction (ASR)
Prevents corrosion of reinforcement steel
Not a vapor barrier; allows concrete to breathe
Protects against sulfate attack
Exceeds requirements of ASTM C494-S (Specific Performance Admixtures)
Provides a fully waterproof and permanently dry concrete structure
Preventing Water Permeability
A key characteristic influencing concrete durability is permeability by water, carbon dioxide, chloride, sulfates and other potentially harmful substances. PENETRON™ ADMIX enhances concrete by increasing durability, reducing the ingress of harmful substances, and by improving many aspects of concrete performance by the following benefits:
More Notable Benefits:
Increases durability and lifespan of concrete by 60 years or more (the PENETRON™ ADMIX-treated concrete added up to 60 years or more to the service life of conventional concrete before the onset of corrosion)
Increases durability and lifespan of concrete by 60 years or more
Increases compressive strength by 13%
Concrete self-heals new cracks (PENETRON™ ADMIX is a hydrophilic product that reacts with moisture and concrete minerals to form crystals in cracks and voids. This gives concrete a permanent self-healing capability. Whenever new moisture enters, PENETRON™ ADMIX develops new crystal formations that seal newly formed micro-cracks).
Acid Resistance (When under acid attack, some projects face potential dissolution of the concrete matrix and a subsequent loss of structural integrity. PENETRON™ ADMIX offers protection against chemical attack (pH 3-11) and is the preferred and widely used solution for wastewater treatment plants).
In cold climates, freeze-thaw cycles are a major factor in the deterioration of exposed concrete structures (bridges, roads, etc.). Water inside the concrete expands when it freezes, causing internal pressure; this leads to cracking, and the following thaw allows water to penetrate deeper into the newly formed cracks, then expanding again and causing further damage as the cycle repeats itself. Tests of PENETRON™ ADMIX-treated concrete show a 90% reduction in length changes due to freeze-thaw cycles
Increases compressive strength by 13%
Eliminates the need for any surface-applied protection systems
Corrosion resistant. Corrosion is an electrochemical process that occurs with a difference in electrical potential of steel and the surrounding cement matrix. Chloride-induced corrosion of steel is one of the most important aspects of concrete durability. Concrete dosed with PENETRON™ ADMIX ensures huge reductions in rapid chloride permeability test (RCPT) values (as per ASTM C-1202 and AASHTO T-277 tests) by reducing chloride ion permeability.
Saves money—a lifetime concrete product
“Green” product that contributes points to LEED projects
It provides self-healing of cracks (up to 0.5 mm) over the service life of product.
Improves permeability: While an optimal W/C ratio is crucial in achieving the desired overall concrete performance, permeability is crucial for concrete durability: decreased permeability means increased durability. PENETRON™ ADMIX reduces shrinkage cracking and seals micro-cracks. It provides self-healing of cracks (up to 0.5 mm) over the service life of the structure/product. Finally, our admixture provides a 70% or more permeability reduction as per ACI guidelines for PRAH (permeability-reducing admixtures for hydrostatic conditions).
How Do You Skirt a Manufactured Home on a Sloped Lot?
Installing mobile home skirting on a sloped lot takes more than a basic skirting product. It takes a system built for uneven ground, long-term protection, and a clean finished appearance. After nearly 26 years of helping manufactured homeowners across the United States, DURASKIRT™ has become a trusted choice for challenging sloped installations.
Why Sloped Lots Need a Different Skirting Approach
Skirting a manufactured home on level ground is usually straightforward because the panel heights are often similar around the home. On a sloped lot, however, one side may sit much higher than the other, creating large openings, uneven gaps, and areas where ordinary skirting products can fall short. DURASKIRT™ is designed to solve those problems with durable concrete panels that can be adapted to the site.
On a slope, skirting must do more than hide the crawlspace. It should follow the grade, protect the underside of the home, resist damage, and give the home a finished, site-built appearance. DURASKIRT™ makes this easier because the panels can be planned around step-downs, framing, bracing, and uneven soil conditions.
As the manufacturer of DURASKIRT™, we are often asked, “How high can your mobile home skirting panels go?” Our answer is simple: “As high as you need.” With the right installation method, DURASKIRT™ can handle almost any height, making it an excellent option for homes placed on steep or uneven lots.
Plan Before Installation
Before installing mobile home skirting on a sloped lot, measure the height around the entire home. Start at the lowest point and continue to the highest point. These measurements will show where step-downs are needed and how tall the panels should be in each section.
Drainage is also important. Whenever possible, water should flow away from the home. Poor drainage can create moisture problems under the structure and shorten the life of some skirting materials. Because DURASKIRT™ concrete panels are designed for ground burial, they are especially useful where skirting must meet uneven soil, extend below grade, and still deliver a clean, professional look.
Choose DURASKIRT™ for Below-Grade Protection
Manufactured homeowners often want skirting that looks like a natural extension of the home—not an afterthought. That can be difficult with wood skirting because wood should not touch soil. On a sloped lot, this becomes an even bigger issue because some sections must extend lower than others. DURASKIRT™ solves this challenge by providing a concrete skirting solution that can safely extend below grade.
Why Ground Contact Matters
Ground contact is one of the biggest concerns when skirting a sloped lot. Many materials are not made to touch soil and may rot, warp, or deteriorate over time. Wood should stay at least 6 inches above the dirt, which often limits design options. DURASKIRT™ gives homeowners and installers more flexibility because it is made for below-grade use.
DURASKIRT™ is designed for ground burial, allowing the panels to be installed below grade and properly backfilled. This creates a stronger barrier around the base of the home, helps discourage rodents and pests from entering underneath, and provides the durability homeowners expect from a premium concrete skirting system.
Using DURASKIRT™ with wood can create the site-built appearance many manufactured homeowners want, even on a sloped lot. It also helps reduce the risk of rotting skirting, improves rodent prevention, and delivers a longer-lasting finish than many traditional skirting options. For the best results, keep wood at least 6 inches above the dirt and use DURASKIRT™ where below-grade protection is needed.
DURASKIRT™ Step-Down Framing for Sloped Lot Skirting
For a cleaner, stronger mobile home skirting installation on sloped lots, use standard framing materials with matching siding to create step-downs that follow the grade. This helps DURASKIRT™ concrete skirting panels deliver a finished, site-built appearance while supporting below-grade protection where the slope requires it. Install paper under the siding to help keep moisture out of the crawlspace. Important Step! After framing is installed beneath the home’s exterior rim joist, brace it back to the I-beams for added support. Proper bracing is essential. For 30″ of backfill, secure bracesto the steel beams no more than 24″ O.C. See photo.

Get a Finished, Site-Built Look with DURASKIRT™
Many manufactured homeowners want their home to look more like a traditional site-built house, and DURASKIRT™ makes that goal easier to achieve—especially on sloped lots. When skirting simply follows uneven ground without a clear design plan, the result can look unfinished. Step-down framing allows the siding above the DURASKIRT™ panels to match the home, while the premium concrete skirting below handles the critical ground-contact area.
The result is a cleaner, stronger, and more permanent appearance that helps the home look like it was built that way from the start. Instead of one long, uneven skirting wall, step-downs create natural visual breaks that follow the slope. With the right layout for siding, lap reveals, trim, and DURASKIRT™ concrete panels, homeowners can achieve a durable, factory-direct skirting solution that adds curb appeal, below-grade protection, and long-lasting value.

DURASKIRT™ Installation Tips for a Stronger Finished Look
Step-down framing follows the slope and prepares the home for DURASKIRT™ concrete skirting panels than install below.
Align framing with the home above for a cleaner manufactured home skirting installation.
Match the siding brand and style to help the home achieve a site-built appearance.
Keep lap siding reveals consistent for a professional, finished look.
Brace framing properly so backfilled DURASKIRT™ concrete panels perform as intended.
Keep wood at least 6 inches above soil and let DURASKIRT™ handle below-grade protection.
Use hot-dipped galvanized nails for a durable siding installation that complements DURASKIRT™ mobile home skirting.
Avoid Costly Skirting Mistakes with DURASKIRT™
One of the biggest mistakes in manufactured home skirting is placing wood skirting or framing too close to the soil. Moisture can lead to rot, repairs, and a shorter service life. DURASKIRT™ concrete skirting panels help solve this problem by giving homeowners a durable below-grade skirting solution where ground contact is required.
Backfilling before proper bracing is another costly mistake. DURASKIRT™ panels are built for strength, but the framing around them still needs solid support. Correct bracing, proper grading, and coarse rock backfill help create a stronger mobile home skirting installation that performs better over time.
Once the framing is braced, papered, and sided, install DURASKIRT™ as your premium mobile home skirting solution. For better below-grade protection, we recommend burying DURASKIRT™ at least 6 inches into the soil and backfilling with coarse rock to help block rodents from digging underneath.
DURASKIRT™ FAQs for Sloped Lot Skirting
Can manufactured home skirting be installed on a steep slope?
Yes. Manufactured home skirting can be installed on a steep slope, but the right system matters. Step-down framing, proper bracing, and DURASKIRT™ concrete panels designed for ground burial make sloped lot skirting cleaner, stronger, and more reliable.
How tall can mobile home skirting be?
Mobile home skirting height depends on the home, lot, and installation method. With DURASKIRT™, your skirting can be planned to fit the height your project needs, especially when installed with proper framing on sloped areas.
Should skirting be buried in the ground?
Some skirting materials should never be buried, but DURASKIRT™ is made for ground burial. Installing the panels at least 6 inches below grade and backfilling with coarse rock creates a stronger barrier and helps reduce rodent access under the home.
Why use a hybrid skirting method on a sloped lot?
A hybrid skirting method combines upper step-down framing and siding with DURASKIRT™ concrete panels near the ground. This keeps wood away from soil, improves below-grade protection, and helps the home achieve a clean, site-built look.
With proper step-down framing and DURASKIRT™ concrete skirting panels, a manufactured home on a sloped lot can look clean, permanent, and well protected. There is more than the cement board and well frame. You will need to know the materials and tools before beginning. As you will see assembling the DURASKIRT™ cement board well is easy. Begin by gathering your supplies and tools as shown below.
Materials Needed for Making The Cement Board Well
Begin by placing a cut cement board and DURASKIRT™ well frame.
Well sides being cut after measuring. Notice the 2″ slope.
Cement Board Well Installation
Begin the cement board well by placing a panel on each side of the desired underfloor opening using the Access Well Frame between them to determine the opening width (approx. 34 ½”). Next, lay down two DURASKIRT™ panels with their backs together, white mark to white mark. Now layout and mark with the pencil the desired height and width (may vary 24 1/8”) leaving ¾” short for well front and giving the top a 2” slope. Finally, cut the two sides of the well making sure to leave the fabric at the bottom edge.
Following the above procedure, carry the cement board pieces to the opening and place them on each side of the well-frame. Using the frame, you can set and level both pieces with white marks inward, fabric outward, and using the frame to hold them in place. Make sure to leave a gap between
After finishing the cement board well sides and front leaving a gap for the lid to slide underneath the siding.
the top of the well-frame and the bottom of the siding. Now measure the outside width (35 ½”) for the front well panel so it spans over the side panels for support.
Cement Board Sides & Lid
The next step for building the cement board well is to cut the lid placing the white markdown. The lid will be 37” x 25 ½” (Cut the fabric edge off). Also, it’s important to choose a panel that is free from chips. Moreover, install it under the front edge of the Access Well Frame where you left a gap. When finished the lid should fit firmly underneath the belly band orprecast concrete siding.
