DIY Skirting for Manufactured Homes

Finally, A Great DIY Skirting for Manufactured Homes

If you are searching for the right DIY skirting for manufactured homes, it helps to know what options are available. Furthermore, most homeowners are using aluminum, concrete, and vinyl skirting. Finally, selecting temporary and permanent skirting measures that can be utilized:

Aluminum Skirting

Aluminum home skirting is strong, relatively inexpensive, and widely available. Additionally, it comes in a range of colors and styles to coordinate with your mobile home. Of course, textures and colors have tendencies for increasing the costs. Lastly, it is one of the easiest types of skirting to install.

Concrete Skirting

Concrete skirting is very popular and one of the most durable types of skirting. Likewise, installing it can be more difficult. Comparatively, concrete can be placed on any terrain and requires the least amount of maintenance.

Vinyl Skirting

Vinyl skirting is extremely popular due to its versatility and very cheap pricing. As a matter of fact, it can have insulating value via foam. Together with insulating boards and installing them over a framework the R-value goes up. Not to mention, vinyl manufactured home skirting comes in many different colors to say nothing of a short lifespan. Also, be advised this is a very temporary fix.

Lattice

Whilst installing lattice home skirting is very easy, it is not very durable. Additionally, it’s sorely lacking providing the same level of protection as aluminum and vinyl skirting. More so, using it to temporarily preventing larger animals from getting under the home will do. Conversely, due to its lattice framework, it allows good air circulation. Of course, preventing the build-up of stagnant water can lead to mold and insect infestation.

Temporary skirting

Cement blocks, plastic, and plywood are often used when a temporary solution is needed. Likewise, the downside to using cement blocks is they’re not attached to the home. Furthermore, they can fall over easily unless the cavities are filled. But they are useful for a fast and cheap temporary way of complying with local planning regulations. Not to mention, cement is an approved skirting material.

Plastic skirting such as that made simply from sheets of hard or soft plastic is nailed or stapled to the sides of the home. Again, while considering using plastic being mindful is a very temporary measure. Not to mention, only using it in an emergency such as a storm.

In the same way, plywood sheeting can offer an emergency and very temporary solution when skirting is lacking. More so, plywood is very cheap, attaching is easy and does the job. However, it quickly rots and is all but worthless as a long-term solution.

Conclusion

In conclusion, using materials approved by HUD’s permanent foundation code is best. Especially those materials conducive for DIY skirting for manufactured homes. Therefore, considering DURASKIRT™ for your DIY skirting project is a step in the right direction. Finally, good luck with your DIY skirting project!
