What is “Revival” waiting for?
The question, “what is Revival waiting for?”
I believe, I am not the only one asking this question. Lately, we have been seeing outpourings of repentance. Moreover, it seems like these outpourings are signs of a “Revival Pregnancy” exists. If you allow me, I would liken outpourings of repentance of sin to Braxton Hicks contractions. Surely, they’re a sign that our spirits are experiencing a Revival Pregnancy.
To add, the Greek word for repentance is metanoia. To be sure, metanoia means to think differently, so much so that your mind changes to God’s perspective which brings salvation for a sinner who yields to it. Please, if you will, let me go a step further to say that for revival to happen our perspective to change to reflect the first 70 that were sent out two by two. As revealed by reading Acts 10: 17 NKJV:
The Seventy Return with Joy
17 Then the [e]seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.”
Like past revivals, they began with outpourings that eventually gave birth to a full-blown renewal. Certainly, renewals all have the same look and feel. Undoubtably, renewals not only have many repenting from sins, but they are followed by signs and wonders. Mark 16:17-18 NKJV, “And these signs will follow those who [a]believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they[b] will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

My second question is, what will it take for an outpouring to go from repentance to demonstrating signs and wonders?
For me, I sat down pondering this question this very morning, 6/2/2024. Incidentally, the day after Pride month began. And, as a side note, our island community had a Pride Day scheduled yesterday at a very visible park where we reside in Washington State. We knew this because of leaving the island to go to a baseball game to watch our grandson play. As we left our island, we saw the signage and small tents being set up. Then about an hour later we heard and saw fire and aide vehicles heading out toward the island. This is never a good sound.
It was then, after the game was over, that we found ourselves and others banned from our island homes. (Note: this is a very rare occurrence, twice in almost twenty years when access was fully denied for hours.) Then, almost like this was not enough, rain began to come down as well. We then learned that four cars were involved and people were airlifted. Still, we are waiting to hear if everyone involved in the accident are going to be okay. Still praying. The reason I mentioned this is that my heart is breaking.
Why is my heart breaking?
What is “Revival” waiting for? “US” America!
My heart breaks because why aren’t we having a Revival Day? Why do we allow the enemy to have the parade or a day? What is revival waiting for? So this was my morning today as I pondered and cried out to the Lord. It was, sitting in His presence, that I was given the reason revival has not fully begun this morning. Hopefully, I am not the only person getting this answer or posing the same question to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As revealed by my prayers, the Holy Spirit spoke a gentle word to me. It was, “revival is waiting for a spiritual repentance.”
“Spiritual Repentance”
Spiritual repentance or spiritual renewal is vital to transport an outpouring into revival. Clearly, we must repent of our unbelief before God will allow a revival or renewal to be birthed. So, what does spiritual repentance look like? Of course, I asked this question, “what is spiritual repentance?”
For me, spiritual repentance is asking forgiveness for my unbelief and letting the Holy Ghost reform my thinking. Yes, a complete reformation and change from wordly thoughts and ideas to spiritual truth. For instance, “do I really believe in Jesus?” Do I take Jesus at His word(s)? To not, does it mean that I call Jesus a liar? Even though, I thank Him for His patience. For one thing, I know from many testimonies His patience has limitations. How so? You might ask.
“do I really believe in Jesus?” Do I take Jesus at His word(s)?
So far, I have met two people in the past couple of years when the Holy Spirit was the evangelist. Indeed, the Holy Ghost led them to Jesus and both became ministers of the gospel. However, I do believe that a full revival is eminent. Most assuredly, it is coming sooner than later. In my opinion, the spark is being kindled as I write this blog. So what is He waiting for? Us.
Additionally, for me, I had a dream more than 8 years ago where the Holy Spirit said He was going to use me to call America to revival. The word He told me was to shout, “Arise!” Incidentally, the first letters of USA are “US.” And, A stands for America. Therefore, He is waiting for “US” America, moreover and United, US.
He is waiting for “US” America. Arise USA! Arise!
Now, back to this spiritual repentance. I must repent of my spiritual unbelief. Like the constitution of the United States, so eloquently says, “I hold these truths to be self-evident.” Do I likewise allow the truths of the gospel to be evidenced in me? In reality, am I experiencing a Mark 16:17-18 to follow my walk with Jesus? Some today are agnostic, meaning they don’t believe these signs are for today and Jesus was not speaking to our generation when He said in John 14:12-14 NKJV, 12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you [a]ask anything in My name, I will do it.”
Like all previous Revivals, God is waiting on US. And, as it happens, He is waiting for our belief to align with His son. An example is, the soldier in the Gospel of Luke. More precisely, Luke 7:1-10 NKJV “Now when He concluded all His sayings in the hearing of the people, He entered Capernaum. 2 And a certain centurion’s servant, who was dear to him, was sick and ready to die. 3 So when he heard about Jesus, he sent elders of the Jews to Him, pleading with Him to come and heal his servant. 4 And when they came to Jesus, they begged Him earnestly, saying that the one for whom He should do this was deserving, 5 “for he loves our nation, and has built us a synagogue.”
An example is, the soldier in the Gospel of Luke.
6 Then Jesus went with them. And when He was already not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, “Lord, do not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof. 7 Therefore, I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed. 8 For I also am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
9 When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him, and turned around and said to the crowd that followed Him, “I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!” 10 And those who were sent, returning to the house, found the servant well [a]who had been sick.
This shows that Revival came to the soldiers’ servant through his demonstration of belief.
In Conclusion: I wouldn’t be honest if I didn’t say I need to repent from my unbelief because if my desire is revival I need to walk in revival. A Godly revival. I need to see signs and wonders follow me. And, not just seeing it follow a traveling evangelist. In me…yes, use me Jesus! Arise in me!
If this also is your prayer, please let me know. And, as always, if you want to know Jesus you can pray the following prayer:
A Plan for Redemption
If you are like me and need to examine yourself. See what is allowing to take up your time. Now making an effort asking God to show you what needs to be removed. Moreover, what needs to be added. You can begin by saying this simple prayer…..
Jesus,
I am a sinner. I’ve done a lot that is wrong or evil. Furthermore, I cannot do anything good in my own power. I need your love and forgiveness. Lord, I am sorry for all the sin that I have committed in my life, and that I know I will commit in the future. I want to live my life for You, doing what is right, and pleasing to You. I need a Savior, because I can never pay the debt that my sin has incurred. Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross, and shedding your blood to pay the price for my sin. I accept that You did this for me, and I ask that You extend Your eternal grace to me. Lord, please transform my heart and my life in Your image, write my name in the Lamb’s Book of Life, and fill me with the Holy Spirit. I praise You for Your love, Your righteousness, and Your infinite mercy. Thank you for saving my soul.
Today, I desire to go all in with you, Jesus. I want that set-apart life that leads me to wholeness and real happiness. I desire peace beyond understanding as your word promises.
In the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior,
Amen.
Now, for the sake of Revival, repent of your unbelief.
Now that you received Jesus and placed your faith in him, it’s time to know that He has given you His authority. You are a son or daughter of the most high God! Begin using words that build yourself and others up.
Now share the Good News!
