We find ourselves in a world where faith is the driving force behind every decision. When we tire and go to sleep, we expect, with faith, to wake up again. This seed of faith was planted in us since we began life. Our mothers, fathers, or caregivers planted this seed because they had it planted in them. So, who planted the first seed?
King David writes in Psalms 139:14 that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” David gives us a picture of what that seed meant to God. Can you imagine a seed that was so wonderful, yet you tremble in fear to plant it, but you do it any way? God loves you like a mother laying their child down for a nap and expecting to return later to nurture them when they awake.
Think about this. How much more does God want us to grow in faith? We understand that we were planted and expected to grow. When we grow, we can choose to either grow and harvest good seeds or bad seeds. Depending on the seeds we harvest, as we plant them, something will always grow. We know this from life experiences, whether we’re blessed or cursed. First, let me share with you some seeds of faith and how you can nurture the good ones.
Some Good Seeds of Faith
- Love
- Forgiveness
- Mercy
- Patience
- Kindness
- Long suffering
A Few Bad Seeds of Faith
- Hate
- Unforgiveness
- Unmerciful
- Impatient
- Anger
- Short tempered
Begin With Planting!
Although these lists are incomplete we all can see “faith” is expecting something to grow. For instance, if we sow the bad seed of anger, we expect anger to become angry. Likewise, we can reap a harvest of patience when we sow the seed of patience. Furthermore, expect an excellent harvest by planting good seeds. Finally, look at these seeds, speak to them, and plant/ nurture them with all your might then watch what happens.
But! A Plan for Redemption
Let’s say we planted bad seeds, and they’ve grown into what we believe to be a unredeemable life? God still had a plan. His plan is and has always been for our redemption. To begin anew today, we simply need to cry out to Jesus with all our hearts. It doesn’t need to be pretty, what seed really is? Just say these basic words today…..
Jesus,
I am a sinner. I’ve done a lot that is wrong or evil. I cannot do anything good in my own power. I need your love and forgiveness. Lord, I am sorry for all the sin that I have committed in my life, and that I know I will commit in the future. I want to live my life for You, doing what is right, and pleasing to You. I need a Savior, because I can never pay the debt that my sin has incurred. Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross, and shedding your blood to pay the price for my sin. I accept that You did this for me, and I ask that You extend Your eternal grace to me. Lord, please transform my heart and my life in Your image, write my name in the Lamb’s Book of Life, and fill me with the Holy Spirit. I praise You for Your love, Your righteousness, and Your infinite mercy. Thank you for saving my soul.
In the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior,
Amen.
Now that you received Jesus, it’s time to know that He has given you His authority. You are a son or daughter of the most high God! Begin using seeds, words, that build yourself and others up and expect them to bring the peace that is promised to the sons of God.
