Concrete Wheel Stops vs Rubber Wheel Stops

Concrete Wheel Stops vs Rubber Wheel Stops

Concrete vs Rubber Wheel Stops

If you have a parking lot in need of wheel stops, you might be wondering which kind is right for you. There are options, and each deserves consideration. However, concrete wheel stops lead to longevity, price-point, and overall curb appeal. Here are some factors to ponder.

Rubber Wheel Stops

  • Rubber wheel stops are more expensive.
  • Rubber wheel stops are also more prone to weathering. This reduces their longevity. After 5 or 10 years, rubber stops tend to age, curl, and peel and start to take on a worn-out and unattractive look. That is the nature of rubber.
  • Rubber is a recyclable material. On a positive note, rubber wheel stops can be made from recycled tires and other materials, and in turn, when they need to be replaced, it is possible that rubber can be recycled again. However, rubber doesn’t last forever. Eventually, it will reach its lifespan and usable potential.

Concrete Wheel Stops

  • Concrete wheel stops are less expensive.
  • Concrete wheel stops resist weathering. Additives go into the concrete to prevent it from cracking or breaking when moisture is applied. One chemical keeps it from shrinking, which in turn can help it from eroding. Another chemical keeps air bubbles from forming; instead, it creates elongated ovals (non-circular shapes) which allow for space for moisture to go so it won’t expand and crack the concrete. There are also additives to reduce the water content, which makes the concrete stronger.
  • Concrete wheel stops are long-lasting. Concrete wheel stops have come a long way. New concrete stops won’t have you seeing exposed, rusty rebar and cracking. Due to advancements in technology, concrete wheel stops last longer and cost less than rubber stops.

All new concrete walls and bridges are using this technology, too. It is lasting a lot longer, and it still looks good 20 years later. New cement wheel stops can last 30 to 40 years, which is about three or four times longer than rubber wheel stops last.

If you’re looking for more information on concrete wheel stops or for inquiries about mobile home skirting, get in touch with DURASKIRT™ at (360)419-9909. Our cement products, both wheel stops and mobile home skirting are using new technology which makes our cement last longer and weather the elements. We’ll be happy to answer any questions you have and help determine if our product will be the best fit for you.

Finding The Best Home Manufacturer Brands

Not all manufactured homes are created equal. A well-built manufactured home can be the great choice for you especially if you are looking for square footage with the lowest price, however, a poorly built home may end up costing you more in the end. If you’ve not looked in a while, the modern, residential-style design and construction of some of the best manufacturer home brands will surprise you. Some, when you add house skirting, are barely distinguishable from stick-built homes.

Purchasing a new mobile home requires a long process and patience to get the best options at the best price. So, don’t be in a rush. Mobile homes are very affordable and are a great option, especially, if you have limited resources, but the cheapest price isn’t always the best option and can actually be more expensive in the end.

There are dozens of manufactured home brands available today. The makes below are some of the best manufacturer home brands that are known for durability, customization, and outstanding customer service.

Best Manufactured Home Brands

  • Cavalier Homes – With three different locations (one in North Carolina and two in Alabama), Cavalier Homes are known to produce high-quality mobile homes. They have excellent customer service, and they will design your dream home with kitchens that look like they are extracted from Gardens magazine. Check the pictures from their website but ignore the quality of the website itself.

  • Fleetwood Homes – Fleetwood Homes has been in the home manufacturing business since 1950. They are known for their affordable pricing, great materials, and quality customer service. They have different plants across the nation, and each of these plants caters to the building requirements in that geographical area. Fleetwood Homes provides a home that fits anyone’s lifestyle.

  • Palm Harbor Homes – This is one of the best mobile home manufacturer brands across the country. As they sell, they also ensure their own homes. You may decide to move your home to a lot or your property. If you must know, Palm Harbor Homes has its mobile home community. Also, they offer green home construction for energy efficiency and with an environmentally-friendly building process.

  • Clayton Homes – Located in Knoxville, TN, Clayton Homes has other outlets across the United States. Clayton Homes has a lot of designs for their customers to choose from with an affordable amount starting from $22,000. If you are a new customer, you will choose based on your location, and your home will be delivered. They produce singlewides, doublewides, and larger manufactured homes based on your choice.

  • Marlette – Marlette Homes has been in existence since 1956, and they have been producing quality homes at an affordable cost since then. They are widely known, and they have numerous mobile home design awards. Marlette Homes is also certified for green building standards. They have their factory in a climate-controlled facility, and they are ISO 14001 certified.

Now go look! This list is a good beginning point, but it’s your home and your choice. Do your research. Additionally, don’t forget to consider DURASKIRT™, mobile home underpinning, for the best house skirting solution.
